Becki Newton
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton was raised in Guilford, Connecticut. She's of English and Czech heritage and first began to perform shows and musicals at local theaters. She then studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her B.A. with a major in European History. Newton is one of the Penn student, was in the fraternity Alpha Chi Omega. Newton, after graduating from Penn University in the year 2006, moved from Penn to New York City where she landed roles on television for corporations like Olive Garden. Newton took on the role Amanda Tanen on the comedy-drama Ugly Betty series from 2006 through 2010. Newton hosted the Official Ugly Betty podcast alongside Co-star Michael Urie. In addition, she was a part of ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode The Series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010 after four successful seasons which allowed the show to get an appropriate series conclusion. Newton was a guest at the New York City Center's Encores at the end of 2009. Jerry Zaks was the director of this Gershwin production called Girl Crazy. Newton starred as Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton played the role of Molly Gray in the television show Love Bites. Cindy Chupack created the hour-long romantic comedy. She served as the executive producer for Sex and the City. NBC began the series beginning in May of 2010 the reason for this was the announcement of Newton's pregnancy, Jordana Spiro's contractual commitment to remain as a character on My Boys The show was removed later and Chupack wanting to leave Love Bites, the premiere was pushed back to midseason.
